Type: A rare and highly symbolic heirloom Thirma (or Til Patra) Phulkari
Age & Origin: 70-100 years old, from Sangrur Region (Malwa, Punjab)
Fabric & Thread: Made on Khaddar cotton using shiny Pat silk threads
Technique: Handmade with the darning stitch from the back side, created by carefully counting fabric threads without tracing designs.
Pattern Used: The central field features a minimalist, staggered grid of delicate four- pointed starbursts and stylized floral buds floating across an expansive, dark background. This airy layout is anchored at the ends by dense borders composed of large, multi-directional starbursts and bold chevron arrowhead branches.
Special Feature: This category leaves massive expanses of the base fabric exposed to create a poetic, minimalist aesthetic. The name Til Patra translates to "sprinkled sesame seeds," referencing the tiny, scattered geometric elements floating across the field.
