Age & Origin: 70-100 years old, from Doaba Region (Jalandhar–Kapurthala, Punjab)
Fabric & Thread: Made on Khaddar cotton using vibrant Pat silk threads
Technique: Handmade with the darning stitch from the back side by counting fabric threads for perfectly balanced designs.
Pattern Used: The main field is composed of repeating, stacked triangular tree-of- life or chandelier motifs. Each individual motif features stepped, multi-tiered chevron branches flanked by delicate little side shoots.
Special Feature: The dense embroidery and vibrant color combination give this Bagh Phulkari a bold, garden-like appearance where most of the base fabric is covered. The pristine sheen of the untwisted pat silk thread sits in gorgeous contrast against the rugged, matte texture of the deep madder-brown khaddar (hand- spun, hand-woven cotton) base fabric.
